During the years of discussing and trying to develop the Calendar tool, the project was in a constant creative change. The goals, the requirements, its use, and its control have continued to hold to the original RRP vision of a shared resource, collectively managed and controlled. If you are interested in the full historical development and what we went through see under HISTORY.
We have stayed fully connected with the aims of the RRP for the Calendar tool.
We envision a self-developed, community-owned tool that can be shared with any local CI page, event page, or teacher page just by linking to it. The inscribed information will enter into the global calendar network. To be able to add information you once need to get access through the central caretaking team—maybe it’s your local webmaster volunteering at that time. Once that is done, the process will be self-regulating.
We imagine in case of conflicts, a rotating care taking team will support resolving conflicts around spam or access issues. The care taking team will be volunteers of the global community integrating the networking webmasters.
Postings on the calendar will be CI relevant information only: jams, classes, CI workshops, festivals, etc. We realize that many people offer work related to CI such as BMC or other somatic work. For the purposes of this calendar, we propose concentrating work or events that are directly related to CI. If it is a hybrid event such as BMC and Contact, it can still included. If it’s any somatic work without clearly named relation to CI, it will not be included.
At this moment in the development, the calendar tool will offer the following categories:
Title of workshop/class or name of event
One time event workshop, jam, festival
On-going event weekly classes and jams
Type of event festival, jam, workshop, class, performance, teachers meeting, conference
Place continent, country, city, location
Date beginning/ending
Teacher/s
Facilitator/Organizer where to register
Cost
Event description max. 200 characters
There will be a search engine and you can look for events according to any of the above categories.
For example….
You could just search for where NN is teaching from June–September 2016.
You could search for all festivals in South America next year.
You could ask what is happening in a specific place in a specific country in August 2015.
We believe a good search function are the basis for the success of this tool and will help with the acceptance in the community and make it very attractive for teachers and organizers to input their events and be user-friendly for those dancers who search for events.
The global calendar tool will be developed by the current tech team including Davide Casiraghi (programmer from ContactImprov.it) with input from YOU, the global contact community.
